January's Awesome Alex Antics:

January 1, 2012:

In the car

Eric: "Alex, wake up"

Alex: "NO!"

Eric: "Do you want to play with a phone?"

Alex: "No. I sleeping."

January 4, 2012

Alex just asked me to stand up and "dance like Beauty and the Beast" (apparently that's what slow dancing/waltzing means to her). :)

January 5, 2012

Alex keeps trying to scroll on my computer the way she does on an iPhone or iPad. She doesn't understand why I don't want her to touch my computer screen! It's all icky already!

January 5, 2012

Alex: "mommy, papa can't talk. He has frogs"

Me: "what?"

Alex: "papa has frogs in his mouth"

Me: "Oh, right. Papa has a frog in his throat."

January 7, 2012

Alex is protecting the Christmas tree. She started putting ornaments back on the tree yelling "Save the Tree!!!" Then when I finally pulled her off she said "Don't take Stitch down, and DON'T take 'cracker' down!"

January 9, 2012

At the store:

Alex- (*gasp*) "mommy! What's that?"

Me- "those are called cheese puffs"

Alex- "I LOVE cheese puffs!"

January 15, 2012

Eric and I were playfully bickering in the car when a little voice started calling "daddy! Daddy! ....you a jerk!". Whoops :-P

January 16, 2012

Second best phrase to hear Alex say: "I so happy!" :)

January 18, 2012

Alex is the sweetest, silliest girl ever.

Best conversation of the day was when she asked if I wanted to share a Popsicle. I told her I was too cold, but she could have one. She kept insisting that we could share one, but them informed me that I could not *steal* hers or I would have a time out.

January 20, 2012

Eric and Alex found a new game. She picks up a play vegetable, and sticks it in his mouth. If she correctly identifies the vegetable...... he spits it across the room. Not sure how I feel about this game...

January 20, 2012

What does Nana say: "That's my girl"

What does Ari say: "That's monkey"

What does Mommy say: "I love you"

What does Daddy say: "Let's play!"

What does Papa say: "I need help!"

January 22, 2012

Alex is walking up to everyone (family party) saying "look who's here!" referring to herself. Super cute.

January 25, 2012

We were listening to the iPod in the car when a recording of Vesuvius (yes, you read right) started playing. Alex said "what's this?". I told her "it's a song Mommy and Daddy used to play in band". Alex lit up and said "I LOVE band!!"

That's my girl :)

January 29, 2012

Alex sings "bum" on the stinger(s) of her songs. So cute.

January 31, 2012

Alex was making up her own songs about her afternoon/evening today. Examples included "my crayons", "mommy in my castle", "splashing water" and "my daddy". She cracks me up.

January 31, 2012

Alex's teacher had to tell me about a concern when Alex had an accident today (apparently Alex was too upset about having had the accident to help explain the situation). Apparently when Ms. Amanda dumped the accident into the potty, there was also a toy. She was concerned it had been swallowed, but it looked too big.

Turns out Alex had stowed a Mickey (a Vinyl Jr) in her "pocket" to take to school... her pocket just happened to be her underwear. I'm laughing, but apparently her teacher was a bit freaked out. Needless to say... that Mickey is gone forever.

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://www.alexandriadanley.com/journal/2010/10/13/alexs-birthday-cupcake.html"><rss:title>Alex's Birthday Cupcake</rss:title><rss:link>http://www.alexandriadanley.com/journal/2010/10/13/alexs-birthday-cupcake.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject></dc:subject>

Alex was way too dainty with her fondant covered birthday cake, so Daddy bought her a buttercream frosted cupcake for after her birthday dinner!

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://www.alexandriadanley.com/journal/2010/10/11/alex-plays-with-the-ball-popper.html"><rss:title>Alex plays with the Ball Popper!</rss:title><rss:link>http://www.alexandriadanley.com/journal/2010/10/11/alex-plays-with-the-ball-popper.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject></dc:subject>

One of Alexandria's new birthday toys. She's having so much fun!

Alex loves bath time.... most of the time. She loves squirty toys (though she doesn't know how they work and gets very confuse when biting them results in a mouth full of water), bubble books and duckies! We've tried giving her a bath in the big tub a couple of times. At Nana's house she loved it. She even liked laying down in the tub and letting the water run in her hair (shallow water of course). At home we have a much more slippery tub and she fell over while trying to reach a toy. This did not make for a very happy baby. So we went back to her own smaller tub.

Last bath time Alex decided she was going to go bobbing for her toys. You know... like you would bob for an apple. She was not so happy when she realized this meant her head was under water. It only took a second for both Auntie Jenna and Mommy to rescue her, but it was enough to make for a very scared little girl. Luckily after getting Mommy soaking wet while getting hugs, she decided she'd go back in the tub and finished up her play time and washing up.

Today we had an interesting time. After a very fun evening, Mommy decided we should end our day with a nice bath and play time. We got Alex all ready and while Mommy was filling the tub, baby sat on the rug and squealed... then peed... Yup. Time to wash the rug. As Mommy was doing some last minute preparations, she sat Alex on her knee. Then placed Alex in the tub and found a nice big poop on her knee. YUCK! She quickly took them off and donned the robe hanging near by and proceeded to wash the baby's hair. Yes... she forgot that that poop had to go somewhere! When it started floating around Alex, Mommy quickly filled the rinse cup with clean water and tried to get the soap out of Alex's hair! One cup down and only a little fuss, 2 cups down and the poor baby had water all over her face and was SCREAMING. Mommy swept her out of the tub (and found the rest of the mess...ewww....) and tried to console a now cold, wet, and scared baby.

Needless to say, bed time was not as peaceful as we would've liked! If we keep this up, Alex is going to start HATING her bath time!

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://www.alexandriadanley.com/journal/2010/4/3/alex-plays-ipad-piano.html"><rss:title>Alex plays iPad piano!</rss:title><rss:link>http://www.alexandriadanley.com/journal/2010/4/3/alex-plays-ipad-piano.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject></dc:subject>

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://www.alexandriadanley.com/journal/2010/4/2/month-of-march-and-alexs-first-sickness.html"><rss:title>Month of March, and Alex's first sickness.</rss:title><rss:link>http://www.alexandriadanley.com/journal/2010/4/2/month-of-march-and-alexs-first-sickness.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject></dc:subject>

It's been a very busy month, and a very long time since I posted anything! Alex has learned a whole lot of new skills lately. She holds her own bottle on every feeding. She even reaches for the bottle as soon as it comes out of the fridge and sometimes grabs and dives on it before she's sitting/laying down to drink it! She can roll over in both directions, but seems to forget this sometimes...especially at night. We've woken up to panicked screams many times in the past week because the baby is on her tummy! She also LOVES to sit up on her own and play. I think she could sit up all day! She's a very silly little girl who still loves to be upside down, talks a TON (usually with her tongue out), and squeal at the animals. Colby will come play with her when she squeals, April will usually let her pet her, but only if we're nearby.

Alex had her very first cold, and it did unfortunately get a little serious. She spent 2 weeks coughing with a little stuffy nose. After a trip to the doctor, a trip to the ER and another week culminating in a morning of wheezing and fussiness we took her back to the doctor. They listened to her lungs again, and diagnosed her with bronchioliitis. Apparently, babies who get it are often between 3 and 6 months. There also seems to be some correlation between this sickness as a baby and future problems with this type of illness as well as Asthma. It's too soon to tell if Alex will have this problem. Luckily we found it before it became even more serious. It was not caused by RSV nor did it become RSV which is common and potentially fatal in infants, but she did spend about a week on a nebulizer every 4-6 hours, had to take a daily antibiotic and steroid! A nebulizer is basically like an inhaler for adults, but babies and young children can't inhale the medicine that way so they wear a mask and breath in the vapors for about 15 minutes each treatment. The poor little girl was so miserable and not herself for nearly 3 weeks.

Since she recovered, Alex has been her sweet self again! She's almost sleeping through the night (except for the occasional panic being on her tummy). Every day while Mommy's at work, she spends her day with Auntie Angie and her cousins. She loves her cousin Gabrielle, and now has a new little cousin, Caleb. Auntie Jenna stayed with them for her spring break, so Alex got to see a lot of her too!

This week, Mommy had spring break and we had lots of fun! So far we've been swimming at the indoor water park, gone to the playground nearby, and the zoo! We still have 3 days of potential fun, including Easter! I'll be posting new videos and hopefully pictures too! Here's one of her playing with her Grandpa in Bob Evans!

She's almost ready for her next clothing size! We have all these VERY spring and summer like clothes in the next size (6-9 mos), but she'll be wearing them way sooner.

The doctor told us that she can eat rice cereal once a day now. She LOVED it on Wednesday, but had a little trouble with it on Thursday. She's also on a daily vitamin. We've also been trying to get her to eat a little formula to supplement her with my breastmilk supply going down... but she hates it. The poor baby is now having all sorts of strange foods forced on her... vitamins, formula, rice, karo syrup and the occasional tylenol for her teeth! Yes, that's right, she's already teething. We can see the little tooth coming in on the bottom. Luckily it only seems to make her fussy enough for the tylenol at night while she's trying to sleep. During the day she's distracted by things to play with and chew on.

We're also trying to get her to sleep now without being swaddled. So far she's not doing so well with this, but as she pulled the entire blanket over her face a few times this week, the pediatrician was pretty definitive that she needs to be done with it now. Basically, my baby's getting big and that comes with lots of changes. She's still as sweet as ever, and that's all we can hope for!

Here's a video of Alexandria eating rice cereal for the first time!
