As I finished buckling Alex into her carseat today, she grabbed the belt of my jacket so it would come out as I walked away (giggling maniacally). Her daddy said "Alex, you're a silly girl" to which she nodded and replied, "i AM!"

Today's convo about the pacifier: me- "Alex, put your para (what she calls her pacifier) back in your bed. You don't need it while you're awake"

Alex- "don't take it away from me!"

Me- "it's almost time to give it up. The pacifier fairy will take it, but she'll leave you a big girl treat. What do big girls like?"

Alex- (thinks for a second) "...paras!"

March 26, 2012

Making cupcakes with Alex. I measure, she pours. Since we always make the white cake versions here, I separated the eggs, and she dumped in the whites. As I turned to dump the last yolk into the sink, I said "ok, one more egg!" Alex echoed, and I turned around to watch her crack a new egg, all over the table and her foot. That'll teach me to turn my back on a toddler baking cupcakes.

Watching Alex quote what we have nick-named "the bi-polar princess scene" in Tangled has led me to 2 conclusions: 1.) Alex has possibly scene this a few too many times, 2.) we have a little actress on our hands and many dramas on the way!

February 2, 2012

Alex was tapping her foot to the "beat" of the story "Charlie Parker Played Bebop" (which she requested spontaneously) tonight, without any prompting or assistance while she said the words along with me. Guess she's got some music in her genes? Now I should see if she can do it while listening to "A Night in Tunisia".

February 4, 2012

Last night while trying to explain to Alex why she can't go potty standing up, we established that boys are different from girls. At first she said she was a boy, so I reminded her that Nana always says "That's my girl!" when she sees her.

Then I said "Is mommy a girl or a boy?"

Alex said "You're a girl!"

"Is daddy a girl or a boy?"

"He's a boy!"

"And what is Alex?"

"I'm a MONKEY!"

sigh....

February 5, 2012

We said to Alex: "Alex, Nana and Papa are coming over for a party"

"It's Ari’s Birthday?" "No"

"It's Papa's Birthday?" "No"

"It's Nana's Birthay??" "No"

"Who's birthday?" "Its not a birthday party. It's a football party"

....."It's football's birthday?"

...."Yes"

February 10, 2012

Daddy was cuddling Alex and giving her lots of kisses when she shouted, “Mommy! Save me!”

February 12, 2012

Eric (coming back to the car from a run into Walmart) "they were out of cookies, so I got a cheese cake"
Alex: "You got a CHEESE CAKE?!?!? Can I eat some???"

Yeah...she's her daddy's daughter.

February 13, 2012

As I put dinner in the table-

Alex: "mommy, what do you have?"

Me: "it's macaroni"

Alex: "WOW! Thank you very much!!" : D

February 15, 2012

Alex is still talking about Mike and Sully and the chickens in her closet. Where do kids come up with this stuff? More specifically, what gives the idea of "scary things in the closet" to a 2 year old?

February 19, 2012

Alex's "chore" is to unload the dishwasher (basically, help mommy do it). After she finished today she said "I so helpful!" (and so darn cute!)

February 21, 2012

"Mommy, you're so bootiful" (completely unprompted) :) Thanks kiddo. You're alright :-D

February 22, 2012

Alex walked around behind me saying "my mommy-mom, my mommy-mom..." until I picked her up. Then she started in with "my daddy-daddy" to Eric across the room. She's so cute.

Feburary 25, 2012

Since the opening of the story book in Snow White is not narrated, Alex decided to read it out loud herself: "Once upon a time, a mean queen wanted to STEAL Snow White.... She says "Mirror on wall, who's fair of all?"

January's Awesome Alex Antics:

January 1, 2012:

In the car

Eric: "Alex, wake up"

Alex: "NO!"

Eric: "Do you want to play with a phone?"

Alex: "No. I sleeping."

January 4, 2012

Alex just asked me to stand up and "dance like Beauty and the Beast" (apparently that's what slow dancing/waltzing means to her). :)

January 5, 2012

Alex keeps trying to scroll on my computer the way she does on an iPhone or iPad. She doesn't understand why I don't want her to touch my computer screen! It's all icky already!

January 5, 2012

Alex: "mommy, papa can't talk. He has frogs"

Me: "what?"

Alex: "papa has frogs in his mouth"

Me: "Oh, right. Papa has a frog in his throat."

January 7, 2012

Alex is protecting the Christmas tree. She started putting ornaments back on the tree yelling "Save the Tree!!!" Then when I finally pulled her off she said "Don't take Stitch down, and DON'T take 'cracker' down!"

January 9, 2012

At the store:

Alex- (*gasp*) "mommy! What's that?"

Me- "those are called cheese puffs"

Alex- "I LOVE cheese puffs!"

January 15, 2012

Eric and I were playfully bickering in the car when a little voice started calling "daddy! Daddy! ....you a jerk!". Whoops :-P

January 16, 2012

Second best phrase to hear Alex say: "I so happy!" :)

January 18, 2012

Alex is the sweetest, silliest girl ever.

Best conversation of the day was when she asked if I wanted to share a Popsicle. I told her I was too cold, but she could have one. She kept insisting that we could share one, but then informed me that I could not *steal* hers or I would have a time out.

January 20, 2012

Eric and Alex found a new game. She picks up a play vegetable, and sticks it in his mouth. If she correctly identifies the vegetable...... he spits it across the room. Not sure how I feel about this game...

January 20, 2012

What does Nana say: "That's my girl"

What does Ari say: "That's monkey"

What does Mommy say: "I love you"

What does Daddy say: "Let's play!"

What does Papa say: "I need help!"

January 22, 2012

Alex is walking up to everyone (family party) saying "look who's here!" referring to herself. Super cute.

January 25, 2012

We were listening to the iPod in the car when a recording of Vesuvius (yes, you read right) started playing. Alex said "what's this?". I told her "it's a song Mommy and Daddy used to play in band". Alex lit up and said "I LOVE band!!"

That's my girl :)

January 29, 2012

Alex sings "bum" on the stinger(s) of her songs. So cute.

January 31, 2012

Alex was making up her own songs about her afternoon/evening today. Examples included "my crayons", "mommy in my castle", "splashing water" and "my daddy". She cracks me up.

January 31, 2012

Alex's teacher had to tell me about a concern when Alex had an accident today (apparently Alex was too upset about having had the accident to help explain the situation). Apparently when Ms. Amanda dumped the accident into the potty, there was also a toy. She was concerned it had been swallowed, but it looked too big.

Turns out Alex had stowed a Mickey (a Vinyl Jr) in her "pocket" to take to school... her pocket just happened to be her underwear. I'm laughing, but apparently her teacher was a bit freaked out. Needless to say... that Mickey is gone forever.

Alex's Birthday Cupcake

Alex was way too dainty with her fondant covered birthday cake, so Daddy bought her a buttercream frosted cupcake for after her birthday dinner!

Alex plays with the Ball Popper!

One of Alexandria's new birthday toys. She's having so much fun!

We've tried giving her a bath in the big tub a couple of times. At Nana's house she loved it. She even liked laying down in the tub and letting the water run in her hair (shallow water of course). At home we have a much more slippery tub and she fell over while trying to reach a toy. This did not make for a very happy baby. So we went back to her own smaller tub.

Last bath time Alex decided she was going to go bobbing for her toys. You know... like you would bob for an apple. She was not so happy when she realized this meant her head was under water. It only took a second for both Auntie Jenna and Mommy to rescue her, but it was enough to make for a very scared little girl. Luckily after getting Mommy soaking wet while getting hugs, she decided she'd go back in the tub and finished up her play time and washing up.

Today we had an interesting time. After a very fun evening, Mommy decided we should end our day with a nice bath and play time. We got Alex all ready and while Mommy was filling the tub, baby sat on the rug and squealed... then peed... Yup. Time to wash the rug. As Mommy was doing some last minute preparations, she sat Alex on her knee. Then placed Alex in the tub and found a nice big poop on her knee. YUCK! She quickly took them off and donned the robe hanging near by and proceeded to wash the baby's hair. Yes... she forgot that that poop had to go somewhere! When it started floating around Alex, Mommy quickly filled the rinse cup with clean water and tried to get the soap out of Alex's hair! One cup down and only a little fuss, 2 cups down and the poor baby had water all over her face and was SCREAMING. Mommy swept her out of the tub (and found the rest of the mess...ewww....) and tried to console a now cold, wet, and scared baby.

Needless to say, bed time was not as peaceful as we would've liked! If we keep this up, Alex is going to start HATING her bath time!

Alex plays iPad piano!
